Recently Cash Daddy sat down with Water Boy and talked about his new single "Jawn", his work with DJ Smallz, the state of Philly Hip Hop & More...

So tell the people a bit about yourself. Give them the run down on Cash Daddy.

Cash Daddy is a musical genius with an unbelievablle drive to gettin to a dollar. Thats where MAKIN MAGIC comes from to sum it all up thats what i do. Magic is somethin i call (MONEY&MUSIC)

How did you get the name Cash Daddy and where did this whole rap thing start with you?

Comin up i ran through several rap names but the only one that really stuck was CASHES. I compaed myself to the greastest"ALI" because i was so young but could hang with the best of them.I would always say im young,pretty,and cant be beat i was cocky just like him. About a year later every time i turned around somebody else was claimin either cassius clay or cashis. Then thats when i decided im just gone go with CASH the DADDY part that was just something the ladies called me. Thats a question i cant answer why u gotta ask one of them. I put it on a song people took to it so since then thats what its been but im still the greatest Im still gone shake up the world because im a baaaaaaaad man.

I noticed that you've worked with DJ Smallz in the past? Tell us a little about that experience and who else you've worked with.

I did my mixtape STREETS MAY BE ICY with dj smallz. The stiuation with smallz was ight, it aint turn out like i wanted it to but it was cool at the end of the day. Him and his people defitnitely did they thing on they side think im lyin google me.I did another tape with shadyvilles dj woogie called WHATS COOKING GOODLOOKING. Of course its hot if its me it may be icy but its still hot it dont matter who i work with i just gotta keep pushin. Dont forget to contact them niggas and tell them cut me a check for the free promotin too.

What projects are you currently working on right now?

Right now my main focus is the project produced by The Presidents. I already released streets may be icy but im pretty much gone throw that in the people faces til they tired of hearin it. So rather than havin two tapes wit the same name i decided to call this one the LP. The reason bein is its all classic music its all original beats its a masterpeice. I think i can get a deal with it so i aint gone just throw it out there like i did the previous tapes. Im a take my time with it but i aint gone leae yall hangin. I plan to drop atleast one tape a month til i put this out

Your new joint “Jawn” has the streets on smash right now. What was the process like for that track and explain to those who might not know what “Jawn” means?

Jawn actually came out hot. I was talkin to one of the producers (Matt Heist) one day and he asked do we still say jawn.i told him yeah he felt that might be the extra push we needed to push the tape. They came up wit a beat the magicain waved his wand and magic was made. The response its gettin is crazy. Its funny u ask me to explain what it mean because thats the same question he asked before they made the beat. Jawn is a philly thing its a noun, if people forgot what that is its a person,place,or thing.

What's the current music scene like in Philly? Is being from Philly an advantage or disavantage in today's rap climate?

In my honest opinon a couple people from my city produce good music but not too many. Right now philly doesnt have a music scene anything i hear from us sound like evrybody else. When i first recorded jawn they ask me to put a lil more swag on the hook. Dont get me wrong i aint dissin nobody i could've got real futuristic but like i said jawn is a phiily thing we dont swag flow. Atleast far back as i remember we didnt. I think bein from philly is a disadvantage and thats what i wanna change. I feel we got the most talent in the world we just dont present ourselves right.One besides will smith and eve no rapper really seen that mainstream crossover success. Two if you back track all the way back to cool c and studyt b we also got a bad history with artist gettin locked up after them white people puttin they money on the line.

It seems like there's a lot rappers out these days. What separates Cash Daddy from the rest?

It not like i say shit that they dont the difference is i say shit that they wont.

As well as being an artist, you have you're own company as well. Tell us a little about STREETS MAY BE ICEY

Streets may be icy thats just my movement, my brand but my company is ICY INC. Icy is me, it really just feeds of me callin my self cashes. ICY stand for inconsiderate conceited young bull. I got a few artist who all bring something different to the table. You will be hearin from them sooner than later.
